But you need to know what foods to feed, how to avoid imbalances and make sure you have enough vital minerals in the diet. To achieve balance, it's important to start by understanding the dietary needs specific to your pet's species, age, and health status.

Aiming for 4-5 different proteins is essential for a healthy microbiome, as microbial diversity enhances gut health. When choosing foods for your domesticated carnivore, consider their natural diet, including seasonal protein availability.

Also, as pets age, they may need less bone content, so mixing boneless meats and organs with meat, bone, and organ grinds can help maintain balance.

Dogs, cats, and ferrets are carnivorous animals with short digestive tracts.
