Our Freeze Dried products are made through a low temperature dehydration process which involves freezing the product, lowering pressure, then removing the ice by sublimation.
We start with our raw materials, depending on the product type, freeze and then freeze dry when processing our Freeze Dried product line. No HPP, irradiation, cooking, burning or rendering in our process.
Freeze drying is beneficial as it causes very little, to no damage to the nutrition of the food being preserved. It typically retains 97% of the nutritional value, also food maintains its same appearance and flavor. The shelf life of freeze dried food is remarkable, up to 25 years, if kept sealed with an oxygen absorber, and in a cool, dry place. Perfect for emergency situations such as power outages or on road trips!
More suited for cats, especially for those transitioning to Raw.
Remember, cats in particular need a few basic supplements, especially Taurine. We offer the Alnutrin supplement for both boneless and bone in ground meats. Cats should also be supplemented with fish oil for the omega 3 fatty acids. Nutritional Supplements are available for purchase, but are not pre-mixed in any of our products.
To hydrate: Mix 1 cup meat, to 1 cup water, for a yield of 1 lb.
Note: This ratio may appear to be more watery compared to frozen raw, but make sure you mix with warm water and allow it to sit for at least 3 minutes. Water can be reduced if your pet(s) prefer a thicker consistency, keeping in mind less water would result in lower yields.
Adding moisture to re-dehydrate is best and is the most recommended way of feeding Freeze dried products. Our freeze dried can also be fed as a topper for picky eaters as it is ground very fine.
