Nutrition and Benefits

• Brains are considered a secreting organ. Generally speaking, secreting organs should make up 10% of the total diet, with 5% of the secreting organ being Liver. The other 5% should include appropriate amounts of Kidney, Pancreas, Brain, Spleen, Thymus, the Testicles and/or Ovaries, when possible.
• Organs are densely packed with just about every nutrient. This includes B vitamins (B1, B2, B6, folic acid, & B12).
Organ meats are also loaded with minerals like phosphorus, iron, copper, magnesium and iodine, and provide the important fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K.
• Taurine is found in most animal proteins, but the highest concentration is in the brain and heart. Taurine supports brain, eye, and heart function, and helps regulate the immune system.

Helpful Tips and Reminders

• 🐈🐕 Cats and Dogs typically do well with rabbit..
➡️ Cats cannot produce taurine, like Dogs can. This means that taurine is essential for felines and taurine needs added in the diet as the body cannot manufacture taurine.
• Heads can be added to low bone and organ content foods to increase the amount of bone and organ ratios in the diet.

    Ferrets love it a lot

By Bryn on January 19, 2021

When I ordered these my ferrets all loved it! Not too tough to cut down to size either, great product!

    Rabbit heads

By Wanda on April 3, 2020

My dog enjoys the whole rabbit head, she likes crunching on the bones and brain is her favorite organ meat. All the rabbit products from Hare Today are of amazing quality.

    Wish They Had Fur

By Christy on January 1, 2020

My dog loves eating rabbit heads (and emu heads too!). One with a bit of green tripe or some lung makes a nice meal for her. I wish my cat would eat rabbit but he rejects it in all forms.

    So fresh and yummy

By Amy on August 24, 2018

My dogs love their bunny heads. I give them each one per week as a treat and they always eat them up quickly. They get their teeth cleaned by eating all the skull bones and the brains are very nutritious. It makes me happy to feed my dogs a natural diet that is biologically appropriate and thanks to Hare Today for making that easier for all of us!

    Wow!

By Larissa on March 8, 2018

My dogs absolutely loved these rabbit heads. I admit it took other products I usually order to be out of stock for me to try these and my dogs were thrilled! Highly recommend!

    Fun addition!

By Sarah on July 3, 2017

I try to look for ways to add interest to my dogs meals instead of serving them the same old boring thing day in and day out. Hare Today gives you so many fun options - like these rabbit heads! We usually buy the whole ground carcass rabbit (because I like them to have the fur) but ground can get boring and I'm not up to feeding whole prey just yet!! The heads look great too, nice and clean as always!

    Chihuahua loves them!

By Jillian on April 20, 2017

I just gave my 5lb chihuahua her first one. It took her well over an hour to eat - great workout for her! She ate it with great enthusiasm right away and worked on it continuously, leaving one tiny part of the skull that she couldn't break. For me - it was pretty gross to look at, but no odor. I will definitely be feeding these in the future and will reserve them for days when I have the time and she needs a good workout!

    My cats love these

By Sam on March 24, 2017

Even cats new to the 'crunch' will remove all the squishy bits, no problem. I've never needed to break these up in any way. I serve one head per cat. They might leave a tiny section of bone (which they do with many meals when not terribly hungry). The heads smell fresh & clean (for what they are), showing again the great quality of rabbits Tracy raises, head and all.

    Rabbit heads

By Lynn on November 9, 2016

I confess that I was a bit squeamish when I saw the heads. For my two cats' sakes I screwed up my courage and proceeded to defrost one head and figure out to serve it to my boys. I used a meat cleaver and mallet to break the head into six pieces and serve three pieces to each cat. After suspiciously smelling the pieces they tucked in and happily ate their rabbit head pieces. I will definitely buy rabbit heads for my boys again. Also crunching the bones is great for their teeth.

    A Real Treat

By Liza on March 18, 2016

My dogs (Miniature Poodles) LOVE these. When they eat them all I hear is crunch crunch crunch! Yes, the eyes are a little creepy, but you get used to them.

    Ewww...rabbit heads!

By Sandy on March 14, 2016

Received an order from Hare Today last week, and it contained skinned rabbit heads! Upon opening the box and examining the contents, I really inspected those rabbit heads...ewww, I thought to myself. They have eyeballs, and mouths, and look really yucky. Not to be deterred though, I stuck a couple in the refrigerator for the evening meal (for the dogs...definitely NOT for me).

Well, around dinner time I took out the towel that my dog eats her raw bones on, and she sat semi-quietly while I brought out the rabbit head and put it on the towel. After getting the "okay" from me she walked over to the delicate tidbit, gave it a couple of sniffs, and proceeded to scarf it down in no time! Apparently it wasn't "ewww" to her in any shape or form. In fact, she LOVED it so much it will become a staple in our rotation, and I will continue to order them from you...even though they still gross me out a bit it's really fun to see her enjoying her new "delicacy."

Thanks so much Tracy, and Hare Today!

My bullies drool over these!! Big hit and so good for them!! Highly recommended.

    rabbit heads

By tina on October 3, 2015

This item probably deserves 5 stars however out of all the rabbit products we have tried so far, this is one that was not a big hit with my guys, for that I was disappointed, not in the product itself. They kind of carried them around the yard, I honestly don't think they knew what to do with a head. My one likes to hang on to things, guard it, bury it and eat it, I just didn't feel comfortable with this on such a super hot week of weather we had and I didn't want these in the house ha ha. Maybe I'll try again in the winter.

Got two bags of these heads my Cosi a Dacie goes bonkers for these. And they are a great price!

By Ruthann on June 5, 2014

Our one dog is on a special diet so she eats these rabbit heads.
She will do a dance when she knows she is getting this for dinner!

By Ruthann on March 10, 2014

Have to admit it kinda creeped me out. But our dogs absolutely love them!
I am fine now with feeding rabbit heads:)
Would recommend them.

By Renee on February 14, 2013

I am a first time buyer and am sooooooo impressed by everything I purchased. The rabbit heads were a big hit with my Wheaten Terrier Boo. Shipping was fast and all the meat was so fresh. She has never been as eager as she is with this fresh rabbit. I will placing a second order soon.

By Emily on November 13, 2012

These are a HUGE hit in my house! They were in one bag so I thawed broken them into separate bunches and refroze some! They were a bit disturbing for me to look at, but well worth it because my dogs LOVED them! Highly recommended!

By Kim on May 18, 2012

This purchase was strictly an experiment to see what my dogs would like and these past with flying colors. I was hoping that I could break them apart into separate heads but they are froze as one block so the dogs had quite a few heads to eat in a couple of days, but no problem. Crunch, crunch, all gone!
