Pru approved!
By Cheryl on May 22, 2022
My cat has a poultry sensitivity and 75% of her diet is rabbit. Since there seems to be a shortage of rabbit (pre-ground), I bought a food grinder and bought the rabbit chunks. All I can say is wow! Pru is especially picky about pre ground rabbit, but she chows down the home ground rabbit chunks! I hope you get more back in stock soon.
Do Not Get if You Have a Weak Stomach Like Me
By Maegan on March 29, 2022
My cat LOVES rabbit. It's probably his favorite protein. The pieces available are quite nutrional as it includes a lot of the body of the rabbit. I personally have to make sure I eat beforehand otherwise Iose my appetite looking at the chopped up pieces of the rabbit that I can see. Preparing his food was quite disturbing for me with these chunks, but he is my fur baby so I will do it anyway.
I saw the snout of the rabbit, teeth and all. Pieces of the eyeball and the rabbits brain. Obviously this is the natural diet of our pets so 5 stars for the great quality and nutrition. Just a warning for those used to their meat butchered on a silver platter ?
Cats really enjoyed

Random pick for lunch. Cats really enjoyed. Took them some time to figure it out.
Smaller
By Rosie on November 22, 2020
I am glad they made a smaller version for the smaller dogs, but I wish they made these even smaller for Frenchies, since again, my dog just isn't much of a chewer and he's impatience, so he just wants instant gratification and not chew more than 3 x. And these pieces needs more than 3 chews to get it down.
I still love these for my baby!
Good product, just not my cats' favorite
By Maia on November 11, 2020
The pieces were small, but I still had to work a bit with some kitchen spears to get them small enough for my two cats to be able to eat. They weren't as excited by this so it won't be a repeat purchase, but not for lack of quality of the meat itself. If you have a larger dog, I imagine you would be able to give the pieces as is.
Great for the fuzzies

All four ferrets love this product! Always fresh and clean. They love Hare Today!
Great vareity
By Megan on July 10, 2018
Love this package for the variety. If I have just one pet or am traveling with just one, this has lots of variety without having to thaw and open several different packages. Everyone loves it too!
Winner winner rabbit dinner
By Rebecca on June 9, 2018
This is paws down my two cats favorite. I have been trying to get my cats to eat rabbit for a year with the ground versions just to get them to eat more than poultry and it never fancied them. But this. This they went crazy for. There are a few hard bones they haven't been able to chew through but for the most part the bone in are their favorites. The organs are fairly varied. Thank you hare today!

I used the rabbit chunks in the big batch of raw food I make for my 3 cats, and they enjoyed it very much. The rabbit chunks are very fresh and made it easier to prepare the food since they were already cut up. My cats loved them.
GREAT SNACK FOR MY DOG
By Bisera on March 30, 2018
My Akita dog loves getting this in the afternoon as a snack. I give him 2 pieces. It has a good amount of meat with bone in it. Good sizes each. The bag comes with a good amount.
Kitty loves 'em
By Jessica on February 6, 2017
My 10 month old kitten is only 3 months into his raw diet experience. This month was his first experience with chunks of meat and organs. I had to cut them in strips hanging off the bone at first and he gave me pitiful eyes " mommy hold my bones for me" so the first few were hand fed.
Now its nearing the end of this month's order...he doesn't need them cut into piece anymore...one day he was very impatient while I was cutting them in half so I put a whole piece on his plate while he waited. Before I was done preparing the rest of his lunch it was gone.
Mr. Kitty can now eat his bones all on his own. He adores his rabbit it's definitely his favorite protein he's tried as of now. He does struggle a bit with the thicker hind leg bones but he will drop those in his doggy sister's bowl when he's done with it.
Kittens Love Them
By Shuang on September 26, 2016
My 2 kittens went crazy for the rabbit chunks! They comes in small pieces so it's very easy to serve. There is also some organ meat in it, and the bones are soft for kittens to chew on. Great food for kittens who just started eating raw meaty bones. 5 STARS!
Rabbit chunks
By Lynn on July 4, 2016
My cats love ground rabbit. I was excited when I saw rabbit chunks and decided to see what my cats would make of them. They went wild for it, especially my Nicky who had a large piece of bone. He worked it until it was practically clean. This is one of my cats' favorites!
Two issues: sharp bones and leaking bags...
By Amanda on May 30, 2016
The problem with this product is that the plastic packaging leaks (a lot) while it's thawing in the fridge, every single time (not just the occasional bag).
This was surprising to me, because the vacuum bags are quite thick and don't seem to be easy to puncture. I guess this must be happening due to the extremely sharp bone pieces being forced through the bag via rough shipping and/or handling? This leaking sometimes occurs with the smaller 1 and 3 lb. chubs of ground meat & bone also, but those leaks are much easier to contain since they fit easily inside of another vessel, like a bowl or ziplock bag, while thawing.
These rabbit chunks, on the other hand, come in a large frozen block that I had a good bit of difficulty trying to stuff inside of a gallon size ziplock to contain the inevitable leaking of blood in my fridge.
Aside from that: My cats like these rabbit chunks okay, although I do have to cut it up into smaller pieces to get them to eat it... and even then they often won't bother trying to chew the very dense bone-y parts, which get left behind in their bowls and go to waste. This is probably due to the fact that my cats are used to eating the "coarse ground" rabbit product which doesn't contain any big chunks of hard-to-swallow bone. All three of my cats LOVED that "coarse ground" rabbit, until I ordered a new batch that came out mushy and was practically the same consistency as the fine ground rabbit product (which two of my cats won't eat due to the texture and quick oxidation factor). I found that this inconsistent-consistency is a fairly common issue that can occur sporadically between batches with the "coarse ground" rabbit product, depending on how close to frozen-solid the rabbit is when it goes into the grinder. Anyway, long story short: this is why I had to stop ordering the "coarse ground" rabbit and was advised to try the rabbit chunks instead.
RESPONSE FROM HARE TODAY: Bags that contain bone can occasionally get punctures and this is addressed on the FAQ.
For a 3 lb or bigger bag thaw in a pan. A 8x10 baking pan works great to use so it contains any leaks. Even a cookie sheet will work. If you are not a baker, the dollar store has disposable pans very cheap. Industry standard for vacuum bags is 1.5 mil. I use a 4 mil bag. On chub bags industry standard is again 1.5 mil. I use a 3 mil. Both at least double the thickness of what other supplier use.
Sharp bone. Yes this is bone in meat which is cut with a band saw. It is unsafe to cut any smaller sizes then what we offer. If the sizes are too large I suggest investing in some poultry shears or your own grinder if you want smaller pieces. The safety of my employees will come first and I want who ever is operating the saw to keep all their fingers.
Issue with coarse grind consistency. If it is pulled form the freezer and immediately ground it can cause the meat to shatter and become a bit mushy because this is at -30 degrees coming out of freezer.
This was explained and even $$ refunded on this issue to this specific customer and this has been addressed. We now pull the frozen rabbit and put in cooler overnight to partially thaw just a tad so it does not cause the shattering issue.
Wish they were bit smaller size
By chwen on May 26, 2016
I like to give my cat a balanced raw diet which includes bones and organs along with muscle. And I like the chunks since it forces my cat to chew on his food which helps w cleaning his teeth. While the chunks are indeed smaller than the rabbit pieces, I wish they were a tad smaller. As it is, I have to cut the chunks into smaller pieces that's more manageable for my cat's small mouth. These are a bit hard to cut through the bones using a kitchen knife.
The chunks are cut into uniform cube sizes which is nice (each cube being one serving). Most cube had some bones and organs with the muscle meat so they are quite the well rounded meal for my cat.
A hit with my cat
By April on March 3, 2016
These have worked out very well. They're frozen into large cubes, but when they thaw, they can be pulled apart a bit into smaller chunks. I aim for 2 to 3 ounce chunks. This is great for my ravenous cat to get him to eat more slowly, and more satisfying for him since he has to chew and work for it. These are on the list for future purchases.
Great chunked sizes
By Yee on December 17, 2015
I loved that I didn't have to do any chopping. They were a nice size for both cats and dogs. They loved it! It was my first time ordering these and I will definitely order more next time!
Small Rabbit Chunks
By Frances on August 29, 2015
Small sized rabbit chunks. Perfectly sized for a cat or small dog. Great source of bone for smaller pets, sometimes bits of organs are included. Product ships fast and frozen and arrives smelling fresh. Cat loves the gnawing on and eating the bones appropriate for her size. Keeps her healthy and teeth clean.
By Heidi on August 19, 2015
These pieces were a little big for our 11-week-old kittens, so I cut them roughly in half. They love them! Crunch-a-munch!
By Jennifer on June 6, 2015
Our cats love these rabbit chunks. We will hear them crunching on these pieces, which include bone, meat and organs. They also love it as a treat and will come running up when we take it out to make the food. It is a perfect addition to the rabbit blend so that they have something to chew on and clean their teeth!
By Lisa on March 24, 2015
These are about the perfect size for my cats! This product saves me a lot of time since I used to cut up the bigger pieces of rabbit. I do supplement with extra rabbit organs.
By Jennifer on February 16, 2015
Our 2 cats love these rabbit chunks! They chew right through the bones and they get to enjoy all the whole organs that come with it.
By Susan on April 25, 2014
Super picky senior kitty loves the rabbit chunks, nice size and easy for him to handle. He holds one side down with his paw and rips the piece with his jaw. Good kitty!
By Jennifer on April 29, 2013
Ollie loves munching on these rabbit chunks. He eats the bones and all!!! The rabbit is an all time favorite in our household with two cats. They gobble it up!
By Olga on May 3, 2012
I've been buying Rabbit Chunks from Hare-Today for 3 years now. My cats eat raw and rabbit is their favorite food. I buy chunks rather than ground because I cut up the meat into small pieces and grind the rest. My cats prefer having meat chunks in there instead of only ground meat.
By Kristina on April 24, 2012
This is a favorite of my pets!!!!! Very great and what more can someone say about superb quality, shipping, and meat that is safe and healthy and includes all the good nutrients?! An absolute #1 favorite here!!!! If I had 10 thumbs, I'd be holding them all up!
By Rebecca on July 7, 2009
My two cats absolutely love these rabbit chunks; it is one of their top favorites! From the human point of view though, I worry about the large bone size in some of the pieces, especially the backbones, and remove them if they seem like the cats might hurt their mouths/teeth on them. I find this product to contain a high ratio of bone to meat/organ.
