    Nutrition and enrichment

By Roderick on December 22, 2023

My boy Kismet loves his mice and begs me for one at least twice a day, since I won't let him hunt the squirrels and quail that like to tease him when I take him on walks. He's relentless. I've sometimes run out of mice before I get my next shipment, and have resorted to getting him feeder mice from the pet store. While he enjoys those, he only ever just eats them, and the first few times, he didn't seem to realize they were food. With the mice from Hare Today, though, he goes wild. I have to take him outside to eat them, or put him in the shower, because he gets so excited that he always ends up playing with them as though they're alive. He'll throw them in the air and catch them in his paws, leave it in the grass and walk away, then sniff around a bit and "stalk" it before launching a surprise attack, carry it around in his mouth for awhile and then fling it into the air and chase it... it's like he's reanimating them. He'll play for a good five minutes or so before settling down to his meal, chewing thoroughly and loudly, grunting and purring, drooling and slurping while he chows down. No manners at all; clearly his mother never told him not to play with his food or to chew with his mouth closed. I've been told it's slightly gruesome, but I think it's rather endearing. I just have to make sure to stay out of the line of fire when he's tossing them around; the boy has no aim at all.

Adult mouse favorite food of my new-to-raw kitty

By Kristine on November 13, 2023

Lucy is LOVING the adult mice. I introduced the first mouse semi-defrosted & sliced into about 5 pieces, the second one fully defrosted & sliced in half, and the third room one temperature & whole. She is now rooting through her plate to find the mice & devouring them first with enthusiasm.

Pretty cool for a kitty that I switched to frankenprey raw cold turkey (no pun intended!) just a month ago. The mice are her first whole prey.

My 2 cats love the pinkie mice!

    Love these!

By Logan on January 23, 2022

I got the pinkie mice to start introducing some whole prey and my dogs loved them!

    cats spent time enjoying this

By chenkun on September 17, 2021

Great prey for chewing practice.

    Generally good side food

By chenkun on June 7, 2021

3 of my cats like it, 1 of my cats doesn’t. Maybe he is a little too picky. Meat is juicy...

    Good, clean product

By Naomi on April 23, 2021

Our older cat with teeth issues has some trouble with these but enjoys eating the organs once you open it up for him. The kitten must remember eating mice as a former feral with his mother, because boy, he CANNOT get enough of these. Didn't even need to start him with pinkies, he just went to town on the adult mice no problem and begged for more.

    Good starter item

By Bryn on July 11, 2020

Great for whole prey beginners. Easy to cut up small and mix in with their meal, and gradually build up to larger prey. Highly recommend.

    Pinkie mice

By Jessica on May 30, 2019

What a great way to help transition to whole prey! The pinkie mice are tiny enough to introduce slowly but big enough to get some chomping exercise. At first he didn't know what to do so I put a small slice in to expose some blood. Now he gobbles them up in 4 bites. They are super easy to thaw as well, as other reviewers and hare today have mentioned, float in some warm water for about 1 minute and he's ready! The mice are very clean and you can tell they are well taken care of. Can't wait to get some more pinkies and try the adult mice sampler!

    Amazing whole prey item

By Sarah on May 23, 2019

I purchased the adult mice to feed to a stray cat that’s been hanging around our property. I absolutely refuse to buy another bag of kibble so any animals fed by me will be fed REAL food. The mice were clean and super easy to feed! The kitty cat has devoured each and every one with utter delight! Thank you for offering such a great product!

    Five stars for sure!

By Claire on December 21, 2018

One of our boys (Siberian cat) absolutely LOVES his pinkie mice. He cries for them as soon as they're defrosted. The other one doesn’t take much interest but he is definitely the more timid eater. These are great quality, like everything from Hare Today. Definitely a must try in my opinion.

    Wow My Cats Love These!!

By Amy on December 7, 2018

I had to warm them up, 3 seconds in the microwave, the first time, but after that they gobble them up right out of the fridge. Like to bat them around first to tenderize them. Great product very clean mice.

    CUPS loves these!

By Ellen on June 16, 2018

My yellow lab puppy loves these! Perfectly sized whole prey for puppies. She has been eating them (and playing with them!) since she was 8 weeks old!

    What a hit!

By Brittany on May 14, 2018

The mice are so clean, and happy looking! (hope that doesn't sound too weird) My cat absolutely LOVES the mice, he gobbles them up in less than a minute.
He gets pinkies for snacks or for training treats. He gets so frantic at times he almost chomps my finger off. They are also in great shape.

    Mixed Results

By Constance on July 18, 2017

I bought two packages for my cats. The older cat, 13 years would not touch them. The younger cat who was 6 months gobbled up the 1st package. He would inhale them. Then when I opened the second package, he sort of pawed at them, would eat one, and then a half hour or so later throw it up. We tried this a couple times, and each time he threw it up. Then he stopped even trying to eat them. I never figured out what happened but figured something was off with the second bag. I threw it out.

RESPONSE HARE TODAY: Some cats don't like cold so if you where feeding cold this may have been an issue. You can float in warm water for a few minutes to warm. Also always feel free to reach out to us if you have a concern we are happy to help.

    Kitten Loves Pinkies

By Constance on April 24, 2017

My 7-month-old kitten just loves the pinkies. He gets them as a treat, usually 3 at a time. Gulp, gulp and they are gone. My 13 year old, however, is not in the least interested. But hey.... more for the kitten!

Pinkie mice: perfect size for introducing whole prey

By Doris on April 14, 2017

The pinkie mice were the perfect size for introducing our two cats to whole prey. The mice are small, but still require chewing (which is good for dental health). Their small size also makes them a perfect treat! We plan to try the pinkie rats next!

    Savannah and Bengal loved them

By Sandra on April 1, 2017

My cats were a little confused at first but after a few nibbles they figured it out. I need to get the 25 count of mice now.

    surprise!

By Susan on March 26, 2017

After a quick rinse in warm water--what a hit!
Sammy Fire Eyes (cat) was on commercial food w/previous mama, but now he is eating Hare Today raw, and pinkie mice are definitely treats! Worth the price!

    My cat's favorite treat!

By Shuang on February 21, 2017

I bought the pinkie rats and the adult mice sampler for my 7 month old kitty, and the pinkie rat has become her favorite treat! She would play with the rat first, throw it in the air, and eventually gobble it up. She would eat 3 rats and still ask for more! Though for the adult mouse my kitty would only play with it. She doesn't quite know how to eat it I guess. If you want to try out these products, I would recommend starting with the pinkie rats/mice!

    PINKIE MICE A HIT!

By GINNY on October 23, 2016

I cut the pinkie mice up into small pieces so all the chickens get some and not just the more aggressive ones, and they gobble them up faster than you can say pinkies. My cats have never shown an interest in mice, but today while cutting them up for the chickens, one of my cats expressed interest and I put the plate down in front of him, thinking he'd take a sniff and walk away. To my amazement, he gobbled up all of the 12 cut up pinkies, and I had to start over prepping more pinkies for the chickens. Not sure if there is a future for the pinkies and my cat, but they're always a HUGE hit with the chickens!

    A dayly treat

By Shandy on June 17, 2016

I have only ordered from hare today once so far. I plan to do business with them for many years to come. My two kittens went nuts for these mice. I feed them each a mouse every day and they're always appreciated. My kittens just want to cuddle up too me after their meal. They are great for their teeth and jaw, and gives them both something to really stimulate their killer instincts. I will be branching out to some other whole prey when I place my next order. Variety is key. Through they love the mice I feel like they need different choices to get a full range of protein sources. Thank you Tracy for making me confident in whole prey feeding and my kittens very happy.

    Mice

By Philip on May 16, 2016

The mice were also in great shape. Clean and healthy looking too. My ferrets loved them.

Will be getting more of these!

By April on March 3, 2016

Of my three cats that I've been transitioning to raw food, one is coming along slowly, one is liking the ground, but is missing a lot of teeth, so chunks are slow going, and one will eat just about anything. So far I've given the most advanced eater two of these large mice, and he chowed them down no problem. I'm working to get him to lose weight, and I think giving him big chunks with bones and whole mice has helped. He takes longer to eat his meal, gets satisfaction of working and chewing, and seems more satisfied - less begging, and he's lost 4.5 ounces so far. Success! I emailed the supplier of the mice to get the calorie content, so that helps. They vary in size/weight, with one of them weighing 59 grams. These are a winner, and I will definitely be getting more of these in the future.

Perfect treats for my dogs (and one of the cats)

By Rivendell Farm on February 4, 2016

These are perfect treats for the dogs...even still frozen. Of the 5 cats, only one (don't know which) ate a pinkie, and only one time. If I could afford to waste them (they go bad) until the cats accepted them, I would. As it is, I think their natural aversion to "carrion." Cats are hard-wired to eat only what they kill. Obviously, they overcome that instinct to eat cat foods, but maybe an already-dead rodent is too much for my cats.

    Kittens loved these!

By Lisa on January 15, 2016

We rescued four kittens and I don't know if they had ever had real mice outside. I don't think so since the mother brought them to eat the canned food we put out for her. So I feel this was their first experience with them. Our kittens are about seven mos. old. I smeared a little of the canned food I had been giving them occasionally on one of the mice and cut just one cut on it with kitchen scissors so the kittens would get the idea what to do with it. I gave it this way to each kitten individually and they were a hit with all four of them! A couple of them had to spend a little time smelling and licking them before eating, but once they had a taste, they were hooked!

    not as great as expected

By Adam on January 3, 2016

the mice was pretty clean, my kittens eat them, though, when they got broken apart, they are wooooweeee, smelly, the smell of... flesh i guess( in compare with chicks). Though its a good amount.

    Perfect cat treats!

By Jessica on October 5, 2015

Like the day old quail chicks, these are PERFECT sized cat treats. All of my cats love them and they're small enough having to deal with a mess isn't an issue. They defrost easily and it only takes a few minutes.
